Suite
Marcel Proust

A tribute to one of French literature’s greatest writers, and a real gem for those who revere Parisian intellectual life: a suite done entirely in woodwork, like a private library, and designed like a bachelor pad, in keeping with the writer’s world and remembrances.

Your stay at the Ritz Paris

You will appreciate

The library

The charm of a duplex, with a sublime view from the king-sized bed into a living room done in the spirit of a cabinet of curiosities.

A table with a chessboard and a special literary atmosphere immediately take you back to the turn of the last century, beckoning you to take a closer look at the writer and his Impressionist friends.

Notes from the Ritz Paris

The first loyal patron
of the Ritz Paris

"At the Ritz, no one pushes you around," Marcel Proust once said.

The greatest of the Impressionist writers, the author of In Search of Lost Time and Swann’s Way was one of the hotel’s early loyalists.

Present at the inauguration, he was invited to countless receptions and, in turn, hosted many dinners here. The Ritz Paris became Proust’s observatory for Parisian life, an inexhaustible source of information thanks to his friendships and in particular the one he had with Olivier Dabescat, the first Maître d' at 15 Place Vendôme.

A faithful accomplice, Dabescat kept the writer abreast about the habits of illustrious guests, and let him in on all the whisperings going around Paris. It’s said that he contributed greatly to the contents in the novelist’s works.
